Publication Policy
SJISSR adheres to the ethical publishing principles and standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), the Declaration of Helsinki, and the Interuniversity Council of Türkiye (ÜAK).
Manuscripts submitted to SJISSR must not have been previously published elsewhere and must be original works that comply with academic standards. Papers that have not been previously published but have been presented as abstract texts at scientific meetings may be submitted to SJISSR, provided that they are converted into full article format. An author may not have more than one article published within the same volume of SJISSR.
Each submission undergoes an initial editorial screening, followed by an editorial evaluation and a double-blind peer review process involving at least two reviewers. In cases where plagiarism, duplication, ghost authorship/denied authorship, research or data fabrication, salami slicing, copyright infringement, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other unethical conduct is detected, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) will be informed by the Editorial Board. If such violations are identified after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors’ affiliated institutions will be notified.
For research requiring ethics committee approval (including studies involving surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, human participants, animals, clinical research, retrospective studies involving personal data, etc.), an official Ethics Committee Approval document must be uploaded during submission. If the study does not require ethics approval, authors must submit a signed declaration stating this and clearly indicate it within the manuscript.
Authors are required to conduct plagiarism screening using tools such as Turnitin or iThenticate prior to submission and upload the plagiarism report with the manuscript. Submissions with a similarity rate exceeding 20% will be rejected.
By submitting a manuscript, authors declare that they have read and accepted SJISSR’s publication ethics principles and author guidelines.
Artificial Intelligence Usage Ethics
SJISSR follows the ethical regulations applicable in higher education institutions and complies with the “Ethical Guidelines on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence” published by the Council of Higher Education of Türkiye (YÖK).
Artificial intelligence systems (including generative AI tools) cannot be listed as authors and do not qualify for authorship. Authorship is limited to real individuals who have made substantial academic contributions to the conception, design, analysis, interpretation, and scientific accountability of the study.
If authors have used artificial intelligence tools (e.g., for language editing, drafting, data visualization, etc.), this must be transparently disclosed within the manuscript. The use of AI tools does not eliminate or reduce the academic, ethical, or legal responsibility of the authors.
Any fabrication of data, generation of false references (AI hallucination), manipulation, or other violations of academic integrity arising from the use of artificial intelligence will be treated as an ethical violation.
Open Access and Licensing Policy
SJISSR is an open-access journal. All articles published in the journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
This license permits users to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt the material, provided that appropriate credit is given, it is not used for commercial purposes, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.
Authors retain copyright of their work but grant SJISSR the right of first publication. Authors may share or archive their articles on other platforms, provided that proper citation of the first publication in SJISSR is given.
Withdrawal Policy
Manuscripts may be withdrawn upon the written request of the author before the peer review process has commenced. In such cases, the submission will be removed from the system and the evaluation process terminated.
Manuscripts for which the peer review process has started or has been completed cannot be withdrawn as a general rule, in order to protect reviewer effort and editorial integrity. However, if major issues arise-such as ethical violations, data errors, misrepresentation, copyright problems, or circumstances that fundamentally compromise the scientific reliability of the study—the author(s) must notify the editorial office in writing with justification. Upon review by the Editorial Board, the manuscript may be withdrawn from evaluation or retracted if deemed necessary.
By submitting a manuscript, authors accept this withdrawal policy.
1. Ethical Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
The inclusion of a manuscript in the evaluation process does not imply a commitment to publish it. Even if the review process yields positive evaluations, the final decision regarding publication and issue placement rests with the Editorial Board.
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on age, race, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, political opinion, or social status of the authors.
The Editorial Board investigates all allegations of plagiarism and misconduct. If ethical violations are identified, the Board reserves the right to take action in accordance with ethical standards.
The Editorial Board ensures that manuscripts submitted to SJISSR are not simultaneously under review elsewhere. Confidentiality of all submitted materials and correspondence with reviewers is strictly maintained.
2. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors may submit only original and scholarly work. They must ensure that they have made a significant academic contribution to the study.
Manuscripts must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Authors have the right to withdraw their manuscript before the evaluation process begins.
Authors must properly cite all sources used and are responsible for the originality and accuracy of references. They must declare in writing that the work does not infringe upon any intellectual property rights and does not involve plagiarism, falsification, or other ethical violations.
All listed authors share equal responsibility for the published article. Submission implies acceptance of these conditions and compliance with research and publication ethics principles.
3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
SJISSR follows a double-blind peer review policy. Reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other.
Reviewers accept assignments only within their areas of expertise and evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and using constructive academic language.
Reviewers must avoid conflicts of interest and inform the editor if such a conflict exists. They are expected to complete evaluations in a timely manner and provide fair, unbiased, and constructive feedback.
4. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Editors select reviewers impartially and provide them with the necessary information to conduct evaluations. They ensure an objective and scientific assessment of manuscripts.
Editors monitor conflicts of interest, plagiarism, and originality issues and encourage transparency in ethical matters. They oversee reviewer performance and maintain the quality of the peer review process.
Editors are responsible for ensuring compliance with ethics committee approval requirements. They may reject submissions lacking required ethical permissions.
They take appropriate measures against misconduct and conduct fair investigations when necessary. Editors safeguard academic integrity, correct errors, and ensure secure archiving of published articles.
Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by political or commercial considerations. Editors ensure transparency, confidentiality, and the protection of intellectual property rights.
5. Intellectual Property Responsibilities
Authors guarantee that their manuscripts do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any individual or institution and that the work is original.
The views expressed in published articles belong solely to the authors and do not reflect the official position of SJISSR.
SJISSR focuses on original theoretical and/or applied academic articles written in Turkish or English. Manuscripts submitted for publication in SJISSR first undergo an initial screening by the preliminary review editor. At this stage, submissions are evaluated solely in terms of technical and formal compliance.
SJISSR adopts a double-blind peer review policy in its manuscript evaluation process. Each scholarly manuscript whose suitability for the journal is confirmed by the editor is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Articles accepted following the standard peer review process are published free of charge.
Manuscripts to be published in SJISSR must not have been previously published elsewhere, must comply with academic standards, and must be original. Papers that have not been previously published but have been presented as abstracts at scientific meetings may be submitted to SJISSR in article format. However, an author may not have more than one article published within the same volume of SJISSR.
The responsibility for the ideas, opinions, statements, results, and recommendations expressed in the articles rests solely with the author(s).
